Turkey’s consumer confidence index rose by 1 point to 96.2 points in July, a survey conducted by market research agency GfK has shown, noting that consumers said June’s elections were the most important topic on the recent agenda.
But expectations for the household economic situation of families in the next 12 months dropped by 0.7 percent, or 0.8 of a point, to 109.1 points, although expectations for the overall economic situation increased 0.8 of a point to 123.3 points.
The GfK consumer confidence index has a range from 0 to 200. When the index swings above 100, this means that consumers are more optimistic than pessimistic. Similarly, if the index falls below 100, the opposite is true.
The survey has been conducted on behalf of the European Commission since March 2007 and is financed jointly by the European Commission and GfK Turkey.
